Wonder Showzen: 2005-2006
I guess it’s kind of old news, but my best friend just informed me that Wonder Showzen will not be coming back for a third season. Wonder Showzen has now earned that most unequivocal indicator of quality television: A premature cancellation.
And while it’s a shame, I can’t really be sad. In fact, I actually think I’m happier that it’s going out relatively unknown. I made a wonderful television discovery one morning at 3AM, shared it with my closest friends (some of whom thought I was insane to like it, but were not at all surprised that I did), and now it’s gone before it could be mass-marketed, cross-promoted, and brand-built. I have the DVD’s, so Chauncey and the gang will always be there for me and anybody I think is fucked-up enough to withstand the stark, ugly, profound truths it exposes.

“the stark, ugly, profound truths it exposes.” ???? Like what? The truth that having a puppet thrust into your face is annoying? I think that you are trying to make the show sound more credible than it deserves. It was a silly show and doomed from the start. It didn’t do intelligent humor that no one got which is why most good shows die, it was just idiotic. And you know I will miss it sooooooo much, guard your dvds :p |

There is a difference between getting something and not liking it. I get it, I just don’t like it. While I appreciate puppets who hump the bible as comedy, overall the shows are not worth the time it takes to watch them. |

Okay you two, go to your neutral corners… “stark, ugly, profound truths it exposes.” is a reference to the ‘disclaimer’ run at the beginning and after breaks. If it was guilty of anything, I think it was too much of an obsession with this attitude: “We’ve tried to end the show many times, but it doesn’t seem to work. We tell MTV, “Buy us out,” but they’re not doing it. This season, there were three episodes that we were like, “This episode should totally end the show.” Some times it’s funny, others it’s annoying, a couple times it’s just gross and “what’s the point?” L |

I got the DVD’s you sent me with the clothes last week. First, thanks for the clothes. You know Kat and I really appreciate the hand-me-downs! Secondly, the Wonder Showzen episodes are absolutely hilarious!! I was almost in tears from laughing so hard. Kat has enjoyed them too! I’ve only had the chance to watch the first two episodes (where the letter ‘S’ fucks the letter ‘N’ while she’s depressed and vulnerable eventually leading to the birth of an ‘i’ ; and where white people are celebrated). The flamboyant plastic surgeons reality show where they “help” starving Africans and Middle East war victims was awesome! THANKS!! |
